Hi… my name is Darcy and I opened D’Tails Pet Grooming in 2013 in Sunset, Utah. My staff and I provided grooming services for Davis and Weber County for six years before we outgrew our little strip mall shop.
It was always my goal to provide a fun and friendly alternative to traditional boarding and doggie daycare. We moved from out little 1700 square foot shop into our 7800 square foot stand alone building in West Haven 2019. There, we built a 26 run facility with four indoor/outdoor play yards. In 2023, we added spacious cat condos for our feline friends.
I have spent my entire adult life in the pet care field in one way or another. Professionally, I started as a kennel technician right out high school in a traditional boarding facility, caring for 60 plus dogs daily. There, I learned how to groom all breeds from an amazing mentor and I was introduced to training techniques and behavioral modification. After 11 years there, I moved on to grooming at a veterinary clinic and learned basic veterinary assistance skills and eventually opened my own shop.
In my personal life, I have dedicated myself to learning everything I can about ethical breeding practices in Great Danes and Standard Poodles. When time and travel allows, I participate in AKC and UKC conformation showing, agility and lure course competitions. I have also participated in fostering and rescue of Great Danes and other dogs in need.
